Specialist Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in this journey, leveraging your expertise to create impactful software that makes a difference. 

 

In this role, you'll be instrumental in designing and developing high-quality software solutions that address complex geoscientific challenges. Collaborating closely with geoscientists, product managers, and fellow engineers, you'll transform scientific research and client requirements into robust, scalable applications. Your contributions will directly influence our suite of products, including tools like Blueback Avary and Blueback Investigator, which are integral to our clients' success. 

  

What You'll Do 

  • Lead the design and development of sophisticated software solutions. 

  • Translate scientific literature and client needs into functional software features. 

  • Architect and deliver substantial product features, ensuring scalability and performance. 

  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates. 

  • Work alongside Test Engineers to ensure comprehensive test coverage. 

  • Develop unit tests and participate in various phases of testing, documentation, and support. 

  • Engage in Scrum practices and contribute to agile ceremonies. 

  • Continuously acquire and share knowledge to foster team growth. 

  • Influence the technological direction of Cegal through active participation and innovation. 

 

What You Bring 

  • Proficiency in C# or a similar programming language. 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with numerically complex solutions. 

  • Experience in web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and Blazor is advantageous. 

  • Familiarity with geoscience software and workflows is a plus. 

  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., DevOps). 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to clearly update team members and stakeholders on progress and challenges 

  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to support and learn from team members. 

  • Adaptability to changing project requirements and a proactive approach to problem-solving. 

  • A commitment to seeing tasks through to completion with attention to detail.
