Senior Java Developer

About the role
As our Senior Java Developer, you will:

  • Take on the role as a senior system developer in one of our multidisciplinary teams
  • Work closely with several skilled developers and architects
  • Deploy Java applications to the Cloud using platforms such as Azure, Oracle, Google
  • Support younger consultants, as well as, receive coaching from our senior Architects and Tech Mentors
  • Participate in the introduction, training, and rollout of new technology
  • Maintain a good and close dialogue with our customers and attend meetings to understand their challenges and opportunities
  • Be involved throughout the development process, from idea and concept to production and delivery
  • Together with us, solve important challenges in exciting projects, both with customers and internally in Cegal 


Who you are?

  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience from system development
  • You have relevant experience with Cloud-Native technologies and open-source
  • You are interested in code quality and can write unit and integration tests
  • You are experienced when it comes to continuous delivery and CI / CD, which enables continuous rollout and efficient feedback
  • You are proficient with core coding skills such as advanced Git, pair-programming, linting, markdown, branching strategies
  • You have up to date Java certifications such as Associate, Programmer, etc.
  • You are active in your field and always up to date on the latest trends and technologies
  • You have good communication skills and can identify yourself with being a fuzz-fighter - communicating in a simple and effective way so that complex concepts are also understood by a non-technical audience
  • You have excellent collaboration skills and are highly motivated to work in teams where you get energy from sharing your knowledge with others
  • You are fluent in Norwegian and English


In addition to your experience as a Java Developer, you find it exciting to work with, and around the following technologies (of course, we do not expect you to know all this, but if you can tick some of the boxes, you will definitely get our attention):
 

  • Other programming languages: Scala, Groovy, Kotlin, Go, C #
  • Recent releases of JDK (9 and higher)
  • Modern Java features: Lambdas, Streams, Sockets, GC, Functional Interfaces, Embedded HTTP, etc.
  • Micro-service architecture and event-based architecture (REST, JMS, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Packing and distribution methods: Maven, Gradle
  • Code management and lifecycle tools: Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.
  • Flexible development methods (Agile, Scrum) and related tools: Jira, Confluence, Trello, etc.
  • Container technology: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with API / Integration - REST, GraphQL, Camel, Kafka
  • Experience with cloud solutions - eg AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI, OpenShift
  • Experience with the Hashistack – Vault, Consul, Vagrant, Packer, Nomad
