Software Test Engineer

Are you our new Geoscience Software Testing Engineer that will further support and refine our products for the energy sector?
 

We are looking for a recent geoscience graduate to join our global technology powerhouse, dedicated to enable a more sustainable future.

Our Software Products department specializes in products for the energy market - currently primarily oil & gas customers but we have a mission to extend our reach to other types of energy clients. Some of our products are plugins to Schlumberger’s Petrel to make the users’ lives simpler.  Some are specialized geophysics tools delivering AVO analysis or inversions. And others focus on data-management and help customers make sense of their terabytes of subsurface data worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

About the role

As a Software Test Engineer in our products department, you will be testing our Prizm geoscience & datascience product. You’ll:

• utilize your Python and geoscience knowledge to test new features of our software as they are developed 

• create test plans for new and existing features 

• help with converting manual functional tests to automated tests where possible 

• liaise with customers, developers and product owners/subject-matter-experts where necessary 

We’ll help you gain the skills you need to be an effective Test Engineer as well as help you upskill your geoscience, Python and software skills - you’ll be working in a friendly environment where we value knowledge-sharing and personal growth. 

What is Prizm?

Cegal Prizm is a modular solution that is designed to allow easy integration of data from different geo-applications, data sources and platforms into a Python environment.

The modules allow you to combine geo-data sources for advanced analysis, visualization, data-science workflows, and machine learning techniques. You can begin to solve problems that were not previously possible with legacy applications.

Integrate modern Python technologies to extend, accelerate and augment standard workflows. Create and securely distribute customized code, services and technology to a user community for consumption.

Who you are?

You are likely to be a recent MSc graduate in a geoscience field, possibly geophysics, and interested in how technology is used in the energy industry.

It’ll be excellent if you have good knowledge of SLB’s Petrel or a similar geoscience package. 

You will be familiar with Python and be comfortable writing scripts and performing data analysis in Python and its datascience ecosystem.  And if you have experience with software testing that’s a bonus. 

Above all you are conscientious, detail-oriented and fluent in English.
